Meetings every Friday during the school year.

Room 240 in Griffin Hall

  1. WTF Fest

A celebration of everything weird and experimental. So let loose your avant-garde side. All we ask is for you to not harm any people or animals in the making of your film. We will accept all films, but only films 10 minutes and under will be considered for judging. Submissions are due the at the first meeting of the year. Follow us on Facebook or Instagram to stay up to date.
  2. Cards Against Humanity Fest

Kickoff is January 25th at noon in GH 240. Teams of up to four crew members will draw one white card, and one black card from the Cards Against Humanity deck and have a week to make a film about it! Films should be submitted to our president Kerry before Thursday, January 31st at 9:00pm. The screening will be Friday, February 1st at 6pm in the GH digitorium.
  3. Write off

This event is about scriptwriting. There are 2 categories: The Lightweight category where participants are challenged to write a script in under 3 pages, while having no elements that would "break the bank." The Heavyweight category has no restrictions and participants are encouraged to go all out in their scripts. The winning script for the Lightweight category will be produced into an actual film by the Norse Film Society. The winner of the Heavyweight category will have their script submitted to a statewide or even nationwide festival! You can enter both, but only one per category. Submissions are accepted by email to either Kerry or Richie. All submissions due February 1st. Winners will be announced later in the month.

  4. The Annual College Movie Festival

By far the biggest and best event that is on this list. The College Movie Festival is an annual competition that is hosted by all of the Tristate's largest film schools. The Norse Film Society does not host this event, instead, we use this as an opportunity to work cooperatively to make the best film/s possible. Thanks to students from the Norse Film Society, Northern Kentucky University has won the past 3 years and we hope to keep that streak alive! For more info go to their website at or if you want to help support the event, you can donate at their GoFundMe. Kickoff is February 17th and screenings are April 27th.
  5. Norse Film Fest

Our last event of the school year! This is a celebration of everything that was made in the past 12 months. It doesn't even have to be made with the NFS. We'll also accept school and personal projects. At the end of the night, the audience will choose the winner of our traveling trophy! Deadline for submissions and the screening will be mid to late April. Submissions must be uploaded to Dropbox or Gdrive and a link shared to our President.
  6. 10 Second Film Competetion

To loosen up after summer break and to introduce new members to what we do, we give participants a week to make a film that is only 10 seconds long. Follow us on Facebook or Instagram to stay up to date.
  7. Horror Roulette

Pitch us your ideas for a horror film. The 6 best pitches will be made and the people who pitched the chosen films will have a leading role in the production. Kickoff begins mid-Septemeber and screenings are late October. During the screening there will be a costume contest, which anyone can participate in. Follow us on Facebook or Instagram to stay up to date.
  8. Golden Grapes

Golden Grapes is the Norse Film Society's 48-hour film festival. Teams who enter are given 48 hours to create a film that includes a prop and line of dialogue. The two elements will be revealed at the kickoff, which will be mid-November with the deadline being exactly 48 hours. Golden Grapes has the most awards out of any of our events so we expect as many people to join as possible. Follow us on Facebook or Instagram to stay up to date.
